This is the third 1987 Shelby GLHS I've
owned. I currently have two. #784 and #654.
I sold #770 back in about September 1999.
I purchased #654, Friday August 17, 2007. I brought it home
Saturday.
I found this by accident. I was replying to an ad on SDML
for an 87 GLHS in Rochester, MN.
The owner never replied, but another guy in Rochester saw my response on the Shelby
Dodge Mailing List and contacted me. He had #654 and hadn't driven
it in years so he asked if I was interested. I was in no position to get a
nice one and told him so, but still wanted to see the car. My friend Paul
and I drove down to Rochester to see it. I liked it and told the seller
I'd have to get rid of some stuff before I could even think about bringing it
home. This was about July 6th. I sold my 1986 Charger Shelby which I
had since 12/88 and my 1989 TII Daytona Shelby which I bought in 11/91. It
was hard to see those two cars go, but they weren't as nice as they use to be.
This freed up the space for the new car. I brought it home Saturday,
August 18, 2007. But, before going home, Paul (driving my 89 GTC convert)
and I brought the cars to the monthly MNSDAC
meeting. This was held at Porky's in St. Paul.
I'm happy with the car. I've gotten more compliments on it in one night
than I did in the whole year of driving my other 87 GLHS I bought in early
2006.
And that car started with only 50,896 miles. My new one had about 106,730
when I got it.
This car is a rock solid Alabama car. I plan on keeping it a long time.
It has some running issues. I'm sure it's easy stuff. The air is
cold! The seller had replaced the air conditioning hoses with new Mopar
stuff a few years back. He was living in TN at the time and needed cold
air. I only wish I had gotten this car earlier in the summer. This
was one of the warmest we've has in quite a few years. Probably since
1988.
